Lacoste Pour Femme & Kenzo Amour – Cathy’s ‘oh so pretty’ Pick

Summer is in full swing, the sun is out and sundresses are in. One of the most feminine feelings is putting on a sundress and having a little twirl – there’something beautiful about light and flowing fabric floating around your sun kissed legs that just warms a girl’s soul.

When looking for this summer’s fragrance, I was looking for the oh so pretty sundress of the perfume world. Initially I was only going to pick one summer fragrance. But I found two that are so light and feminine that I couldn’t leave one out – after all, it is a woman’s prerogative to change her mind.

Without further ado, I present, Lacoste Pour Femme and Kenzo Amour.

Lacoste Pour Femme

Pour Femme translates to ‘For Women’. While that may seem an obvious statement to make, ‘Pour Femme’ was created specifically with women, and femininity, in mind. Lacoste did an outstanding job capturing the lightness and slight sweetness of femininity in this gorgeous fragrance.

There are top notes of Jamaican pepper and freesia. Middle notes of hibiscus, jasmine and rose with base notes of sandalwood, incense, cedar and musk.

This fragrance reminds me of a cashmere summer dress – its light (from the vanilla, jasmine and heliotrope), but it is grounded by the cedarwood, sandalwood and incense which envelop you at the same time. Blended perfectly, the top, heart and base notes produce no harshness, there is just a smooth transition between them, like a light vanilla cream.
I am not a fan of the sickly-sweet Gourmand perfumes that are all the rage at the moment, but what woman doesn’t love a little dessert? In Lacoste Pour Femme the sweetness is balanced and cut by beautiful floral notes. Then you have the warm wood notes with just a hint of spice, incense and pepper which keep it classy.

Lacoste Pour Femme is one of my favourite perfumes of all time.

Kenzo Amour

My then boyfriend (now husband) bought me a bottle of Kenzo Amour in 2006 when I was in my mid twenties – I was not a fan. I smelt it again about a year ago and I am in love. I don’t know what has changed since 2006 or why I didn’t like it then, but Kenzo Amour has all the elements of a beautiful, well rounded perfume – which it is.

One perfumer’s journey through the middle east (namely; Vietnam, Japan and India) inspired  the creation of Kenzo Amour. The concept behind the fragrance is a journey of love (Amour) and emotion.

Notes of cherry blossom, rice milk, white tea, frangipani, sweet warm wood, incense vanilla and musk work together to create a perfume which reminds me of a floral, almond, milky tea. Expertly layered, these notes create a calming, joyful, gentle yet sensual fragrance.

Kenzo Amour is as soft and subtle as a milky rice pudding but it, surprisingly, has extraordinary staying power (12 hours!).

This very wearable, and oh so pretty, fragrance is definitely worth it. If you’re looking to try it out, head on over to our perfume store and check out Love – inspired by Kenzo Amour.
